The Editor
In response to the letter from S M McNeill ‘why should we submit’ The Press 16 March.
I can assure the letter writer and your readers that the comment attributed to one of my fellow ECan Councillors, in relation to the consultation process “we hear from the same old serial submitters’ does not in any way reflect my views.
Coincidentally, I have a notice of motion going to this weeks Council meeting seeking to heed the Chief Ombudsman and follow the lead of Christchurch City Council to adopt the position that our briefings, workshops and seminars will be open to the public by default, rather than closed.
It is my view that an engaged community is an informed community, and I would strongly encourage people to submit to the draft Long-Term Plan.
